Precision Turf Tour

Precision Turf Management and University of Georgia Sanford Stadium Walking Tour
The tour will consist of the two segments described below and is limited to the first 50 registrants.
1.0 CEU will be available for Certified Crop Advisors who attend the tour.
Precision Turf Management (approximately 1 hour)
- Gerald Henry, Athletic Association Professor in Environmental Turfgrass Science, University of Georgia.
- Dr. Henry’s research program is focused on sports field management with the goal of improving athletic field safety and performance. His team examines the influence of field playability on athlete injuries, performance testing techniques to accurately describe athletic field safety, and the impact of sports turf management on field playability and athlete perceptions. Henry employs a variety of precision agriculture technologies in his research program. The tour will visit research sites and view the equipment used. It will be led by Ph.D. students Erick Begitschke and Julie Wang as well as Research Associate, Kevin Tucker.
University of Georgia Sanford Stadium (approximately 1 hour)
- Matt Hollan, Director of Sports Turf/Grounds, University of Georgia Athletic Association
- The visit to the University of Georgia football stadium will include a field tour, a locker room tour, and a visit through the recruiting lounge. The field is likely to be under renovation which will offer additional opportunities to discuss field use and player safety.
